As with previous versions, SimCity's core mission is city building. The player acts as the mayor: he is determined with a specialization and acts in such a way as to create a successful metropolis with happy residents. The game begins with the construction of infrastructure, zoning and the provision of resources: electricity, water, waste disposal. With the growth of population, capital, construction of certain types of buildings, the player will open up new opportunities.

The new features are limited resources and multiplayer, but they don't end there. For example, to ensure the most realistic processes in SimCity, the GlassBox engine was developed and the concept of agents was introduced. The peculiarity of the engine is that it simulates the game world, relying on the details and properties of many objects in the game. At the same time, agents perform detailing of the sum of all influences from all objects, at a specific point on the city map.

The new version of SimCity is distinguished by deep elaboration: curved roads, zoning areas, visual and audio effects. Zone types will include residential, commercial and industrial. In addition, Maxis has created the so-called "constructed worlds". They allow you to plan your city and provide flexible customization of special buildings due to their modularity.

The multiplayer mode provides the player's connection with neighboring cities in the region and with the whole world. This is necessary for trading, exchanging resources, and uniting players to create large projects. Within the same region, cities can be connected to each other through networks such as highways, railways and waterways, and power lines. Certain urban features, such as traffic density and / or air pollution, will have an impact on neighboring cities. Player interaction and global rating will be provided through the Citylog interface.
