Categories of crimes and their legal meaning

Crime as a legal concept emerged only with the division of society into antagonistic classes (slaves and slave owners) and the emergence of the state. The state at that time was mainly an instrument in the hands of the slave-owning class to preserve and strengthen their domination over the slave class, and actions dangerous to the slave-owning system were recognized as crimes.
