Crysis is a sci-fi first-person shooter developed by the German company Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. The first game in the series in a planned trilogy.Crysis was released on November 13, 2007 in North America, November 15 in Australia, November 16 in Europe, November 23 in New Zealand, and November 29 in Japan exclusively for personal computers.
On September 18, 2008, almost a year after its release, Crysis became available for download through the Internet digital distribution service Steam.
On June 5, 2008, the Crysis Warhead expansion was announced. It was released on September 18, 2008 at retail and via Steam. The add-on described events taking place parallel to the events of Crysis, so the protagonist of the add-on was Psycho. On May 5, 2009, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and the multiplayer add-on Crysis Wars were re-released as a combined Crysis Maximum Edition.
