The Sims 4 is a computer game in the genre of life simulator, the fourth in a series of The Sims games, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and OS X. The release of The Sims 4 for the Windows operating system was officially announced at the E3 computer games exhibition and took place on September 2, 2014 in the USA, on September 4 - in Russia and Europe. The localizer of the game in Russia is SoftKlab. The release of the version of the game for OS X took place on February 17, 2015.

The Sims 4 lacks a clear storyline, and the gameplay is non-linear and has no set end goal. The player controls his own created character, directing him to perform various activities and to create relationships with other characters similar to real life. The game takes place in fictional worlds, made in the spirit of modernity. Cities are inhabited by ready-made families and non-player characters who live according to the set storylines. Nevertheless, at any moment the player can take control of any family or character and change their fate.

The gameplay in The Sims 4 is a life simulator. The player controls life, satisfying the various desires and needs of one or more characters. The action takes place in a town consisting of residential and public lots and inhabited by Sims. Each character is endowed with intelligence and emotions, has a unique appearance and personality. Relationships between characters are measured on two scales, friendship and romance.

The game begins with the creation of a personal character or a whole family. The new character must be moved into the house. The house itself can be chosen from those provided by the game, downloaded or built by yourself. After that, you can release the character into life: getting a job, meeting physiological needs, building relationships, improving skills, and so on. In the fourth series, a character can perform several actions at the same time (for example, talk and eat at the same time) and perform tasks in a group with other characters (group conversation with several characters at once). The game offers a wide range of professions, allowing you to go through certain stages of work that require communication with other Sims - now, to increase you need not only to maintain a good pace of work, but also to complete various tasks in the city. The goal in the game is to act out a life situation.

The player's interface with the sim is implemented in third person mode.
