About the game: The Forest
The Forest is an open-world survival horror computer game under development by Endnight Games using the Unreal Engine. An early alpha version of The Forest was released on Steam on May 30, 2014. The Forest game is all about survival on an inhabited island: a game character who is trapped on the island in a plane crash must find food and shelter for himself, as well as defend against frightening natives - cannibals. The Forest set out to make an extraordinary game, unlike other survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and was instead inspired by films like Cannibal Hell and The Descent, as well as computer the game Minecraft. Cannibals, opponents of the game character, are not mindless "zombies" - they are a tribe dedicated to their own survival and claiming the same resources as the player of The Forest. During the day, the Forest player can sneak into the caves where these nocturnal creatures live, and kill them in their sleep, until the tribe is completely destroyed - this idea was borrowed by the developers from the book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. The deeper the player of The Forest descends into the caves, the more fearsome and dangerous enemies they confront. The plane crash will take place at a random location on the island, after which The Forest player is invited to explore the island in search of his son, stolen by the local aborigines. The Forest player will have to resist natural factors, look for resources for survival, and also confront the aborigines who inhabit the island. The protagonist can die, so he needs to monitor his health. Health can be restored with food and pills, as well as medicinal herbs. The main character also has an energy indicator that can be restored by drinking water, listening to music, sitting on a bench or sleeping. You can cover yourself with mud to hide from natives and monsters, but it washes off in the water and when it rains in The Forest. There are suitcases scattered around the crashed plane in The Forest that can be opened with an ax. Valuables can be found in suitcases such as food, water, pills and cloth.
