Description
Need for Speed: Rivals is similar to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), with the same exotic cars and high-speed police pursuits. The player can be a racer or a cop. There are 11 upgradeable gadgets available, including shock waves, electromagnetic devices and the ability to order checkpoints. The action takes place in the fictional county of Redview. The open world is somewhat reminiscent of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012), thanks to multiple jumps, speed traps, and deployable cars.
The game uses work (analogous to Autolog) - a competition system between friends, first developed for Hot Pursuit. At any time, players can compare stats, compete, brag about their achievements. Introduced a new social system "AllDrive", allowing a smooth transition from single player to multiplayer. This system "blurs the line between single and multiplayer format." The dynamic weather system, according to the developers, makes the world livelier than any other Need for Speed game.
Development in Rivals is done by means of Speedlists for riders and assignments for cops. The player must complete sets of challenges that include dangerous driving, maneuvers and racing.
Vehicle customization will be limited to texture changes. With the exception of the Aston Martin Vanquish (see Marketing), the cars will only be available in racing or police versions. For the first time since Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (2002), Ferrari cars are fully and officially included, including the 458 Italia, 458 Spider, 599 GTO, Enzo Ferrari, F12 Berlinetta, F40, F50, FF models.
