Need for Speed ​​is a relaunch of the series, and at the same time includes a street racing theme that first appeared in the series in Need for Speed: Underground. Car tuning has reappeared in Need for Speed, which includes a lot of both visual details and tuning the characteristics of the car. The game also has a storyline, accompanied by videos with real actors. All actions of the game take place in a city called Ventura Bay. Need for Speed ​​has five play styles for which the player is awarded in-game points: "Offenses", "Style", "Tuning", "Speed" and "Team".

Development of the game took place two years after the release of Need for Speed ​​Rivals. The developers decided to bring back the concept of street racing and implement in the new game everything that would make Need for Speed ​​the best part of the series and delight fans with the exciting gameplay and new features that Ghost Games showed during the development of the new game. Need for Speed ​​received mixed reviews from critics. Among the merits were the graphics, videos with real actors and sound effects, but the most often criticized was the need for a constant connection to the network, as well as the gameplay.
