Minecraft (from the English mine craft - literally. "Miner's craft") is an indie game in the genre of sandbox with elements of survival (English) Russian. and the open world [1]. In style, the game world is entirely made up of blocks (terrain, items, mobs, player), and low resolution textures (16x16 texels) are used for texturing.
Developed by Swedish programmer Markus Persson, also known as "Notch". The game was conceived as a clone of Infiniminer [2], although Persson expressed a desire to simulate its gameplay as Dwarf Fortress [3]. The game is written in Java using the LWJGL library.
Minecraft was in development for a week before it was first publicly announced on the TIGSource forums, where it first gained a lot of popularity, which led to the creation of a Minecraft forum, wiki and IRC channel.
