Much to the regret of domestic fans of Relic Entertainment, neither in Company of Heroes, nor in subsequent add-ons (Opposing Fronts, Tales of Valor) there was not a single episode where events would develop on the Eastern Front. Players could land with the Americans on Omaha Beach, land in France with the British, and even take control of German troops, but that was all. Where was the Soviet Union? Where did the Red Army go - the most powerful army in Europe, which grinded most of the German fascist divisions? In essence, it was an injustice that needed to be corrected somehow. And representatives of Relic Entertainment fixed it by releasing Company of Heroes 2. True, to take part in the Battle of Stalingrad, protect Moscow from the Nazi hordes and liberate Leningrad from the blockade, gamers could only seven years after the release of the first part of Company of Heroes, but they got a game where only the Eastern Front was the theater of military operations, and exclusively Soviet troops acted as the main characters.
