Description
Human life is a constant and active interaction with the environment, which is impossible without complex and perfect sense organs. And the most important of them is vision. Thanks to him, we distinguish between various objects, correctly determine their location in space, perceive the richest range of color shades.
It is estimated that 95% of information about the outside world we get now thanks to vision. It took on enormous overloads, which were not programmed for during evolution! Weakening of vision deprives a person of the completeness of ideas about the world around him, complicates his knowledge, limits the choice of a profession.
One of the causes of visual impairment is myopia. Over the past decades, the number of people suffering from myopia has increased significantly. People with glasses have become an integral feature of modern life: in the world, glasses are worn by about 1 billion people. Myopia is inherent mainly in young people. So, according to different authors, myopia in schoolchildren ranges from 2,3 to 16,2% or more. This percentage is even higher among university students.
Until recently, the problem of myopia has been insufficiently studied. Abroad, little is done about it, as there is an opinion that myopia is a hereditary disease and almost impossible to treat. Russian ophthalmologists have denied this opinion. Now many scientific institutions in Russia are studying ways to prevent the onset and progression of myopia.
Nearsightedness, myopia (from the Greek "myo" - squint and "opsis" - look, sight), - one of the disadvantages of eye refraction, as a result of which people suffering from it, poorly see distant objects. Myopia most often develops during school years, as well as during study in secondary and higher educational institutions and is mainly associated with prolonged visual work at close distances (reading, writing, drawing), especially with improper lighting and poor hygienic conditions.
If measures are not taken in time, myopia progresses, which can lead to serious irreversible changes in the eye and significant loss of vision. And as a result - to partial or complete disability.
Additional Information
There is a connection between myopia and colds, chronic and severe infectious diseases. In myopic children more often than in healthy children, there are changes in the musculoskeletal system - impaired posture, scoliosis, flat feet. This is due to improper posture when reading and writing, as well as rapid fatigue of the muscles in the neck and back. Poor posture, in turn, worsens the condition of internal organs and systems, especially the respiratory and cardiovascular.
Thus, there is both a direct and an inverse relationship between the physical activity of a child, his health, on the one hand, and the development of myopia, on the other. If a child from an early age moves a lot and in a variety of ways, is well tempered, he is less likely to develop myopia even with a hereditary predisposition. And vice versa, in myopic children, if they are not trained, do not monitor their posture, nutrition, study and rest, various diseases and further progression of myopia may occur.
